“HE IS RISEN!”
The resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. Your faith. My faith. It is equally true and unbelievable! It is the moment that both fulfilled ancient prophecy and changed history! It shattered the power of death and opened the door to eternal hope.
The Gospel of Luke gives us an intimate insight into resurrection morning. In Luke 24:1–12, a group of women approaches Jesus’ tomb, carrying spices to honor the body of the Savior they loved. Hearts heavy with grief, their steps are marked by sorrow. They expect to find a sealed grave, a stone unmoved, and the stillness and stench of death.
But instead, they encounter the impossible. The stone has been rolled away. The tomb is empty. And angels stand before them with a question that still echoes through the centuries: “Why do you seek the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen!”
In a single moment, despair is interrupted by divine revelation. Their mourning begins to give way to wonder. What seemed like the end was, in fact, the beginning of resurrection hope. It is almost incomprehensible!
John’s Gospel brings us even closer to the tenderness of this miracle. In John 20:1–23, Mary Magdalene stands outside the tomb weeping, overwhelmed by loss and confusion. The one who freed her from demons and cleansed her from sin is gone! Then everything changes when Jesus calls her by name. “Mary.”
That one moment transforms her sorrow into recognition, her tears into joy, and her despair into worship. The risen Christ is not distant; He is near. He is personal. He meets His people in the places of their deepest pain and reveals Himself with perfect love. His power is stronger than the grave, and He keeps His word!
What a turning point in history. Even now, our souls can’t help but rejoice at the news! HE IS RISEN! He lives!
Easter is the celebration of Jesus’ victory over death, but it is also the celebration of hope reborn in us. The resurrection reminds us that even in our darkest moments of confusion and pain, God is still at work, rolling away stones we believed were immovable, calling us by name when we are alone. And He invites us to walk in the power of His resurrection life.
The same Jesus who conquered the grave still comes near today. Because the tomb is empty, our hearts do not have to remain full of despair. Because He lives, hope lives. Because He rose, we, too, will rise.
This is the wonder of Easter: death is defeated, sorrow is silenced, and Jesus is alive.
