Bible with Brandi Week 31 – Psalms 63

“O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; my soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You...” (Psalm 63:1, NASB)

There is something powerful about the very first words of this psalm: “O God, You are my God.” When we settle who God is, we begin to settle who we are. We are no longer led by our emotions, our circumstances, or the opinions of people. We are anchored by the One who loves us and gave His Son for us. The psalm continues, “I shall seek You earnestly.” Some translations say, “early will I seek You.”

There is a reason beginning our day with God changes everything. When I seek Him first, my perspective changes. My heart is softened. My mind is renewed. My fears lose their grip because His truth becomes louder than my feelings. Seeking God early isn’t about checking off a spiritual box. It’s about alignment of heart. When we start with God, His Word becomes the filter through which we see everything else.

Isaiah reminds us, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3) I don’t know about you, but I need that reminder every single morning.

That’s the invitation for us today.

Before the emails...

Before the meetings...

Before the chaos...

Before the worries...

Pause.

Declare: “God, You are my God.” Then seek Him. Read His Word. Pray. Listen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What is usually the first thing that captures your attention each morning, and how might your day look different if you intentionally sought God first?

  2. In what area of your life do you need God's truth to become louder than your fears, emotions, or circumstances today?

  3. What is one practical way you can make time to pause, pray, and spend time in God's Word before the busyness of the day begins?
