A Prayer for the one holding onto faith when answers don’t come easily
Scripture:
“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 16:17-18
Weekly Prayer:
There are moments in life when God’s power feels unmistakable. We see healing, restoration, and answers to prayer that leave no doubt He is moving. But there are also moments that stretch our faith. Times when prayers seem to go unanswered and situations unfold that are hard to reconcile with the goodness of God.
Even in Scripture, we see this tension. The prophet Elisha raised a child from the dead by God’s power, yet he died from sickness himself. The apostles witnessed countless miracles but also endured suffering and loss. Faith is not built only in the moments we understand, but also in the moments we do not.
The Great Commission calls us to pray, to proclaim truth, and to trust Jesus regardless of the outcome. This week’s prayer is one of steadfastness, asking God to keep our hearts anchored in His promises while we keep walking in obedience.
Father,
Your Word is clear on Your heart for healing. Your Son died so that sin and death would no longer reign. You have commissioned Your children, then and now, to proclaim this truth and to testify of Your goodness in every situation.
Yet we live in a world that often seems to contradict what we know of Your character, like when Your prophet Elisha, who once raised a child from the dead by Your power, died from a sickness himself. Or when tragedies arise that seem to defy the goodness of God.
I cannot pretend to fully comprehend these mysteries. But I believe with every fiber of my being that Your Son reigns over all. He is the bridge between our frailty and Your fullness, between the sickness of this world and the healing of the Kingdom.
Help me walk in that truth, not just with my mind, but with my soul. May I be found steadfast, even in the waiting. Protect my faith, Father. Draw me ever closer to You, to Your truth, and to Your promises. And God, fulfill Your Word that power would follow those who believe. Let it be so in me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Closing Thought:
Faith is not blind optimism. It is a confident trust in God’s character, even when our circumstances raise questions we cannot answer. Jesus is still the bridge between the brokenness of this world and the fullness of God’s Kingdom. Our role is to pray, to believe, and to keep our hearts aligned with His truth.
