Weekly Prayer: A Prayer for Our Children’s Walk with God
SCRIPTURE:
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
WEEKLY PRAYER REFLECTION:
Last week we returned from our mission trip, hearts full and hands a little tired, yet so aware of God’s goodness. Watching my children serve reminded me of how God shapes their hearts through experiences that go far beyond what I could teach them at home. I pray the seeds planted during this time of serving will grow into a lifelong love for their Maker.
There is something holy about seeing your children meet God in real ways, not just through your faith but through their own encounters. My deepest prayer is that this trip opened new doorways in their hearts to a greater closeness with Him, that they would know Him as loving, approachable, and full of mercy.
God delights in our children’s worship, not for perfection or performance, but for the pure joy that comes from hearts set free. As parents, we can guide and pray, but it is the Lord who draws them close and writes His truth upon their hearts.
This week’s prayer is for every parent who longs to see their children walk with God in authenticity, freedom, and deep personal faith.
WEEKLY PRAYER:
Father,
We thank You for the precious gift of our children and for every moment that draws them closer to You. We pray that the experiences of this past week would take root and flourish in their hearts. May they remember not just the places they went or the people they met, but the way they felt Your presence among them.
Lord, give our children hearts that worship You with joy and freedom. Guard them from any lie that whispers You are distant, harsh, or unapproachable. Instead, reveal Yourself through kindness, patience, and love. Give them bold confidence to come near, to know You personally, and to seek You in the quiet moments.
Establish within them a faith that is truly their own—alive, sincere, and rooted in Your truth. I dedicated them to You from the very beginning, and now I ask that You call them by name, claim them as Your own, and pursue them daily with Your steadfast love. Woo them to Yourself, Father, with a passion that captures their hearts for all of their days.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
